Simpler Times

What a great age we live in. The amazing accomplishments that we enjoy not only as Americans, but also as all people living in our current time. The Baby Boomer generation accomplishments seemed to begin with the promise, of our sitting president, to be the first nation to land on the Moon. Not only was that amazing feat turned into reality, we were also able to watch the actual event as it unfolded. Amazing! Shortly thereafter the introduction of the “Radar Range” microwave oven landed in our homes. Mesmerized families hovered around the contraption to witness a bowl of water begin to boil within a moment of time. Incredible! Soon our cars became faster. Then they quickly became adorned with standards that were previously luxuries only dreamed about. Cell phones were “Bricks”, but rapidly became slender, and powerful, and an item that has become seemingly a worldwide necessity. Fabulously useful inventions indeed! We currently applaud our children as they have become the first “Tech Savvy” generation to walk the planet. We adults are amazed by their ability to grasp the latest technologies. Incredible yes, yet sadly all the while we, as a nation and as a world, are becoming more and more less dependent on one another. We’ve become inhabitants of the virtual reality world created and dominated by Google, Facebook, Garage Band, and the like. Incredibly handy tools yes. Unfortunately many in society have been duped into thinking we are capable of being totally independent from one another. The result? Peoples empty lives documented on the world wide web in search of satisfaction. So many professing to be wise demonstrate their ignorance daily. Additionally, many think they have an audience that cares. Children hanging out on social media believing they are engaging with real friends. Adults seeking physical pleasure apart from their spouses. Virtual Reality often replacing the physical touch of their committed married lover and best friend. Instant gratification has become the norm and the daily desire of many. Truly a self centered humanity indeed. With that I propose a dare. A dare to ponder. A dare to ponder a simpler time. I know it’s hard to consider, but when I take the time to look up into the sky and see the same stars that King David observed as a boy; knowing, through his writings, that his heart quickly bowed to the One who created those marvelous clusters. Clusters creating an uncluttered vision of God’s goodness being shared with all humanity. David responded with praise and adoration. The Moon shinning in the middle of night reflecting the glory of the sun. What a wonderful reminder that the world around us is vast yet perfectly precise. With all things considered from a simpler point of view it’s easy to see that Jesus, God the Son, has and will continue to reflect the glory, the holiness, and the goodness, of God The Father.  Thank you Jesus that you have given us an opportunity to reflect a small slice of Your glory. Your faithfulness will continue to be found by those who seek it. Yes a simpler time indeed.

Acts 4: 12
Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Ya just reflecting and positioning myself and encouraging loved ones to embrace a simpler time for our lives…Blessings from Pastor G
